Here's an email I received this morning (1st April) which you might enjoy! Best wishes from Ireland, Helen
Dear Helen:
Rumors of a stunning development have reached Pnosis. The world's great pixel factory, known by its code name RMF, upon whose output the entire Internet depends, has been taken over by two evil hypnotists.
All pixel manufacturing has ceased. World pixel stockpiles are dwindling to crisis levels. The government has imposed a news blackout in an effort to avert massive public panic. A Pnosis Exclusive! But do not panic (yet).
The Evil Hypnotists reportedly have placed the entire workforce in an "Ultra-Height" trance and are holding the world pixel supply hostage in return for "A Billion Trillion Dollars." Pnosis satellite cameras reveal a suspicious quiet settling on the Omnihypnosis complex in Deland, Florida. And ... neither Jerry Kein nor Bob Brenner have been seen in public for the past week. Obviously, suspicions arise.
Pnosis's secret agents have provided this exclusive photograph of the ultra-secret RMF facility taken by Pnosis's Eye In The Sky.
Pnosis counterinsurgency specialists have infiltrated the RMF plant. Here is a cell-phone photo of the inside of the facility confirming a complete work stoppage.
According to the authoritative Wikipedia ,
A pixel (short for picture element, using the common abbreviation "pix" for "pictures") is a single point in a graphic image. . . . (SEMANTICS. A point has no information except coords. A pixel however will occupy a definable area of the screen. Suggest words to the effect; ...pixel is the smallest area of the screen addressable by the rastering/timing controls and will contain a specifiable number of image forming elements (i.e. R.G.B. phospher dots in/on a CRT screen).... ***. Each such information element is not really a dot, nor a square, but an abstract sample. With care, pixels in an image can be reproduced at any size without the appearance of visible dots or squares; but in many contexts, they are reproduced as dots or squares and can be visibly distinct when not fine enough. The intensity of each pixel is variable; in color systems, each pixel has typically three or four dimensions of variability such as red, green, and blue, or cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.
Pnosis regrets to inform its readers that a world pixel shortage, spiking pixel prices on the Chicago Comex to astronomical levels, is far more dangerous than the widely reported robbery-by-hypnosis of an Italian grocery store, or even $100 bbl oil, or even the subprime crisis. But do not panic Pnosis even now is flying in teams of specialists, the Pnosis crack team of ninja counter-hypnotists. They are, even now, are preparing to "wake up" the hypnotized pixel makers and return world pixel supplies to normal.
Meanwhile, if your computer screen goes dark, we control your set. Do not adjust the horizontal. Do not adjust the vertical.
As soon as Pnosis -- heroically -- has restored the world Pixel supply, Pnosis's subscribers to the free weekly EnTrance Me Note will be the first, and perhaps only ones, to know the true dramatic story behind this looming crisis.
Courage!
